Bare Feet

“Take off your shoes, for this is
Holy ground.”
“All right, Lord, I understand.
You can’t wash my feet if I’m
wearing sin’s sandals.
See! - bare feet!
I’m standing still now -
on Holy ground.
Somehow it’s hard to trample
all over other people’s lives
with bare feet, Lord.
“I feel awkward like this
dressed, yet naked - humbled—
Bare feet!
Funny things—
but ready to be shod
with the gospel shoes
You would give me to wear.
“But first, Lord—
-wash me-!”
